Billy Dean Farris (Bill) of Bethel Acres, Oklahoma, left this world on August 12, 2022, at the age
of 85. He was born to C. D. and Mattie Farris on January 29, 1937. He was a Bethel High School
graduate and lived his entire life in the area. He loved to be outdoors hunting, fishing, camping,
and exploring with his beloved wife, Sue, of 66 years. He spent his career working in Shawnee
with automobiles as he served as a parts manager for Werrell-Lowe Oldsmobile and owned the
Bill Farris Paint and Body Shop, but his love was working on his place west of Shawnee where
he loved mowing, chopping wood, and planting a garden. He loved to tell stories and
entertained family and friends with tales of his adventures and escapades. Bill was a man of
faith and instilled the belief in his children and grandchildren that knowing God and his son
were important to life. He was a member of the former East Main Church of Christ of Shawnee,
and was a member of the Lakeview Church of Christ, west of Shawnee.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, Randy Farris, parents, C. D. and Mattie Farris, brother
James Farris, and sister Peggy Head. He is survived by his wife, Sue Farris of the home,
daughter, Cindy Smith and husband, Tim of Shawnee, OK, daughter Ronda Slaton and husband,
Shawn, of Hulbert, OK, six grandchildren: Chris (Marissa) Smith, Jeff (Julie) Slaton, Susie (Jarrod)
Vasquez, Billie Sue (Levi) Peck, Travis (Brittany) Slaton, and Marcus (Haley) Smith; and sixteen
great-grandchildren, brother, Carroll D. Farris, sister, JoAnn Stroud, brother, Jerry Farris,
numerous nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.
