Buddy (Bud) L Burleson passed away suddenly on March 20, 2023 in Yukon, Oklahoma. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on July 28th, 1949. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Bud Burleson, of Oklahoma.Bud is survived by his five children, Elicia Brandt and her husband, Phil, of Oklahoma, Nicholas Burleson and his wife, Nikki of Oklahoma, Rachel Johnson of Oregon, Brian Johnson of Colorado, and Natalie Johnson, also of Colorado.Bud is additionally survived by six grandchildren, Hayley Brandt, Addison Brandt, Taylor Brandt and Jaelin Burleson, of Oklahoma, Blake Saunders of Colorado, and Simone Brand of Oregon. Bud is also survived by his brother, Bill Burleson and wife, Beverly, along with their children & grandchildren, and his brother, Bob Burleson and his wife, Linda, along with their children & grandchildren.Bud largely grew up in El Paso, Texas. After high school graduation, he joined the Navy, where he trained as a corpsman. His unit was attached to the Marine Corps, and he served honorably alongside his comrades, providing medical assistance to soldiers in the field. Upon completion of his service, Bud subsequently earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing at University of Central Oklahoma. He then spent some later years in Denver, Colorado, before recently returning to Oklahoma.Bud’s career was in the transportation industry, with his work primarily in sales. But his passion and legacy was his dedication to volunteer work, namely with Volunteers of America, where he volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and provided other direct client services. Bud enjoyed conversing with clients and making sure they were safe and warm, and had enough food and clothing. Further, he volunteered for Victim Outreach Inc. as a victim advocate, as well as various support activities through the Wheat Ridge Police Department. Moreover, Bud spent some time during his summers volunteering at the Roundup River Ranch, a camp serving children with life-changing medical diagnoses. One of Bud’s more recent proud moments was his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and his public declaration of this decision by being baptized at Flatirons Community Church in Denver.The family will host a come & go celebration of Bud’s life & achievements from 5-7pm on Friday 3/31 at the home of Nicholas and Nikki Burleson in Bethany, Oklahoma.Family graveside services will be held at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
