Catherine L. Burns

Catherine Lawarine Burns was born on March 29, 1939, in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Charles F. Schaffer and Jo Dean Norvell. Cathy passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 15, 2024.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles F. Schaffer, Jo Dean Doke, and stepfather Keith Doke.

 Cathy is survived by her husband, Charles H. Burns. Her sons: Michael Tomlin, Mark Tomlin (Bobbi), and Matt Tomlin. Stepchildren: Corinna McClellen (John), Kim Long (Kenny), and Randy Burns. Grandchildren: Casie Tomlin, Cristin Fong, Brandon Skala, Kristin Sivigliano, Lauren & Julia McClellen, and Kylie Long. Great grandchildren: Mason Druse, Lincoln Fong, Ashton & Hudson Skala, and Kyler & Gia Sivigliano. Two brothers and one sister as well as a host of other family and friends.

 As a young girl, Cathy grew up in El Reno and Midwest City. She was the best mother that three boys could have ever asked for, always there for them. She served as a Cub Scout den mother while her boys were growing up. Cathy was a member of the Oklahoma City Follies and enjoyed performing with them. In 1993, Cathy married Charles (Chuck) Burns. Together they made homes in Texas, England, New York, Arkansas and Oklahoma. She worked in the jewelry business for many years in Oklahoma City, Houston, Dallas, and Hot Springs until she retired. Cathy was a beautiful, pretty, kind, and caring person. Memories of her will live in our hearts forever.

 The family wants to thank the staff at St Ann’s Skilled Nursing & Therapy for the excellent care given to their mother as well as the awesome care given by Mercy Hospice.

 A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at St. Ann’s Skilled Nursing & Therapy Chapel, 9400 St. Ann Drive, Okla. City, OK 73162
