Former Marine David Michael Sears (62) surrendered his arms on May 07, 2017 in his final battle at the OU Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His endeavors in life, love and friendship were guided by a deep honor for his country, respect for his family and the culture in which he was born. He was a survivor of his past with a complex personality whose quick wit and technical skills led to a successful and well-lived life. Born the first son of his late parents Leo Harrell Sears and Elaine Iona Sears (Valkenaar) on Sep 15, 1954 in Long Beach, California.
He is survived by his son Jonathon, daughter Amber, siblings Deborah Mills (Sears), Peter, Paul, April, Leo, Timothy, Tracy White (Sears), Andrew and many aunts, cousins and grandchildren. He may have battled with us in life, but in eternity he is our protector. In death there is forgiveness, honor and respect; put you hand over your heart, a Marine has died. Semper Fidelis our brother.
A ceremony will be held May 27, 2017 at the Oakland Cemetery pavilion in Poteau, Oklahoma at 1:00 PM. The family requests donations to the National Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

I miss David grilling something really good and cooking a wonderful meal that we would enjoy. Afterwards we would watch Jack Benny and old b&w movies he was an old soul in a modern world. We had some wonderful memories he made me laugh so much, there were times he made me cry. I know he loved me and how much I loved him. Be kind to each other no matter what. I would give anything to have one more moment with him. I think he knew he would be leaving all of us, he was so brave and if anyone should have survived this illness he was the one. I wait to see you. I will never be the same again and my heart and soul will be faithful to you. We went thru some tough times as we were both stubborn but passionate. I would not want to share any of it but with you. You always told me I was your girl. And I still am my love. “We loved with a love like no other love”. (Poe) his favorite poem.

I am so glad we connected again for the last few months. From North Carolina, to Florida, Texas and Oklahoma we took a trip. Laughing, arguing, and discussions that led to nowhere. Be peaceful David. With Love, Angela
