Debra Lundy, a beacon of kindness, humor, and unwavering strength, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024 in Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Stockton, California, Debra embarked on a life journey filled with adventure, laughter, and profound connections with those around her.
After graduating, Debra chose to serve her country and joined the United States Army, seeking new horizons beyond her hometown. Her dedication and determination propelled her through eight years of service, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. Throughout her military career, Debra exemplified resilience and fortitude, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In September 1981, Debra married the love of her life, Walter Lundy, and together they shared a bond characterized by love, mutual respect, and shared dreams. Their union brought forth the greatest joy of their lives, their beloved son William, born in 1986.
Life as a military family took them on adventures across the globe, from the scenic landscapes of Germany to the vibrant communities of Louisiana at Fort Lee and El Paso, Texas. Each new destination brought with it opportunities for Debra to touch lives with her warmth, humor, and compassionate spirit.
Settling in Tennessee for the next 12 years, Debra became an integral part of her community, known for her generosity, infectious laughter, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Her genuine care for others extended beyond words, often manifesting in simple yet profound gestures, such as a comforting hug or a listening ear.
In 2015, Debra and Walter relocated to Oklahoma, drawn by the desire to be closer to family and create new memories together. Despite the challenges life presented, Debra faced them head-on with her trademark no-nonsense attitude, finding solace in forgiveness, peace, and the unwavering support of her loved ones.
Debra will be remembered fondly for her quick wit, contagious laughter, and the light she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her cherished son William Lundy, and a host of family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Though she may no longer walk among us, Debra's spirit will forever shine bright, illuminating our hearts with love, laughter, and cherished memories. May she rest in eternal peace.
