Eleanor “Putsie” Margaret Wilkes
March 19, 1937 – July 25, 2017

Eleanor was born on March 19, 1937, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Hazel and Norman Hardin. Eleanor was the youngest of four children:  brothers, Charles Hardin and Robert Hardin and sister, Phyllis Berlin.  Eleanor went by the name “Putsie”, a nickname given to her as a child by her family.  She was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School and was retired from the State of Oklahoma Senate Staff.

Putsie was the beloved wife of Jerry Wilkes of Oklahoma City.  Putsie and Jerry met as children.  They lived a few blocks from each other in Capitol Hill and Jerry was the childhood friend of Putsie’s older brother Bob.  Putsie and Jerry married in 1961 and were married for more than 56 years.  Putsie cherished her family and created a loving home.  Putsie and Jerry were blessed with many treasured friends.  One of her favorite pursuits was traveling with family and friends.  She enjoyed a lifetime of wonderful memories from her journeys.

Putsie is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Jacque Wright and her husband Allen of Edmond; step-daughters, Liz Wilkes of Edmond and Vickie Freeman and her husband Richard of Oklahoma City; grandsons Brookes Wright of Oklahoma City, David Wright of Norman, and Rick Freeman and his wife Ashlee of Edmond; and granddaughter Katie Freeman Price and her husband Maj. Chuck Price, USAF, of Phoenix, Arizona. 

Putsie passed from this life on July 25, 2017, at Epworth Villa under the care of Epworth At Home Hospice.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 14, at 10:30 in the Brill Chapel at Epworth Villa.
