Erin Ranee Cordes

We remember Erin Ranee Cordes, whose spirit departed from us on January 19th, 2025 at the age of 41. Erin was a vivacious young lady who loved the life she was given. She was a testament to unwavering friendship & kindness, leaving an unforgettable mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Erin was the eldest sibling of three girls. Having Down Syndrome came with certain disadvantages & Erin knocked every expectation out of the water. With the guidance of her family, she advanced & matured, developing into a spirited young woman who loved her independence & spoke her mind. Erin loved people and she rarely met a stranger. She was a fierce friend & loved to make everyone feel special; whether it was calling to sing Happy Birthday on their big day, creating one of a kind art pieces of their favorite interests, or designing tie-dyed shirts. Erin was an avid artist, who enjoyed dancing to her eclectic music collection & going to watch the latest films. She will always be remembered as the colorfully bright young lady who loved peace signs & yin-yang symbols, and the girl who loved pictures but only on her terms & not very often, always the photographer, hardly the subject. Erin is survived by her doting parents Steve & Pam Cordes, her sisters Tyler Nicole Cordes & Tara Freeman, her favorite brother Jimmy Freeman, along with her adoring nephew Trey, niece Stevie, & nephew JT. Erin is also survived by her paternal grandmother Glenna Cordes, Aunt Cheri & Uncle Jeff James, Uncle Dwight Cordes & husband Bob Watson, and cousin Karen Brady. Her maternal grandfather David Bazzell & wife Trisha, Aunt Kim & Uncle Jeff Ornellas, Aunt Lacy & husband Dusty Dvoracek, and Aunt Brittany & husband Clay Faison. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Tyler Cordes & her grandmother Joyce Wakeman.

Erin’s celebration of life will be held at Life Church Broadway & Britton (9001 Broadway Ext. OKC, OK 73114), 10:00 am Friday, February 14th, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to any of the following: Wings Special Needs Community, your local or state Down Syndrome Association, National Association for Down Syndrome (NADS), or National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS).
