Devoted Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and Grandfather Gary Wayne Barger Jr passed away Saturday September 22, 2018 surrounded by his family at St Anthony’s hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Gary was born May 9, 1962 in Chandler, Arizona to Gary and Shirley Barger. Gary is survived by his wife Channon Barger of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Two daughters Misty and husband Christopher Atkinson of Perry, Oklahoma and Amber and husband Marc Ibanez of Corpus Christi, Texas. His mother Shirley Barger of Enid, Oklahoma. Brother Richard and wife Sandi Barger of Arlington, Texas. Sister Kathy and husband Donnie Burton of Mcloud, Oklahoma. As well as several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Gary Barger.
Gary was a resident of Hot Springs, Arkansas. He graduated from Enid High School in 1980. He enlisted and served in the US Army. Gary held a variety of jobs including a lifetime of Aviation work. At the time of his death he was Lead NDT inspector for AAR in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Gary and Channon attended Word of Faith Outreach and Pleasant Hill of Hot springs, Arkansas.
Gary never met a stranger. He was an avid reader with a love for the outdoors that including camping, boating, and motorcycle riding. Gary and Channon spent a lot of their free time riding his beloved BMW motorcycle coast to coast and into Canada. They enjoyed visiting places around the world.
A visitation will be held at Oklahoma City Cremation, 807 W Wilshire Blvd, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 10:00 am Thursday September 27, 2018.

My condolences to your family. Gary will be truly missed by everyone. I remember walking into work in Hot Springs@ 3 am and the hanger echoing Praise and Worship music – To no surprise – it was Gary. I pray mighty Angels surround you with peace and comfort knowing Gary is walking with Jesus…
and to us who believe and receive we will see our loved ones again.

I had the privilege of knowing Gary since 2006 when he joined AAR Hot Springs. I was fortunate to work with him for 3 years in Hot Springs and again for the past 3 years after he transferred to OKC. He was a valued member of our organization and he will be greatly missed. His work ethic, faith, integrity and willingness to go above and beyond expectations were uncompromised. I was blessed to have known him. My sincere condolences and prayers are with the family and multitude of friends.

Gary was the friendliest person anybody could ever meet ! I had the pleasure of meeting him when I went to work on regionals and then again when I went to day shift to work the C40 I would meet with him every morning when he was doing his morning walks ! hard to believe he’s not with us but he’s in a better place feeling no pain. Gary was an awesome man, one of the hardest working guys i ever new. So sorry to hear he is no longer here with us. I remember he would work at AAR-Reebaire and then go off to Lowes and work some more.

I had the privilege to know and work with Gary in Hot Springs and then again in Oklahoma. Gary was one of the most kind gentlemen that anyone could meet. The world lost a great guy. Fly high Gary.

I’ll never forget the down to earth discussions I used to enjoy having with Gary- everything from talking about God and life in general to his long peaceful cross country trips him and his wife took on his BMW. My deepest condolences to his family and all that knew him. Gary was a great honorable man, with patience and peace about him. You will be missed friend.

So sorry to hear. I went to school with him a long time ago, met him in Enid Oklahoma. He was working at the hospital. I moved away in 1979. I randomly looked him up and very sorry to hear that he’d passed
