James (Jamey) Marion Daves, age 39, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on November 8th, 2022. He was born on June 13, 1983 in Oklahoma City and raised in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Jamey was a big-hearted man with a personality that filled each and every space he entered. He was a devoted husband, fiercely loyal, tender, and generous towards those he encountered. He committed wholly to the people in his life that he loved, and, above all things, he held his family and friends as most important. Jamey was most personified by his disarming smile, infectious laugh, and commitment to relationships. He lived his life and expressed himself genuinely in every circumstance. Jamey had the courage to show his kindness and love, while also valuing honesty and open communication. Like it or not, you always knew what Jamey thought. This was part of his commitment to his family and friends. He valued others, was always open to the present, and injected humor whenever and wherever he could. Humor was a significant defining quality of Jamey’s. It connected him to others, built bonds, and allowed him to enjoy every moment. At every turn, Jamey encouraged others to see the humor in all situations.
Jamey met Shel, the love of his life, 17 years ago and they’ve been together ever since. Jamey set his values correctly. He loved people and used things, and not the other way around. Jamey was passionate about motorcycling, sports, his dogs, new experiences, and conversing with loved ones.
Jamey is survived by his wife and best friend, Sharon (Shel) Elizabeth Millington-Daves; his father, James Dean Daves, and stepmother Shelley Lynn Daves; his mother, Toni Garnett Strader, and stepfather Todd Strader; his sisters, Courtney GleeAnn Daves, Jerica Lynn Toon; his brothers, Charles Matthew Daves (Lacie), Joshua David Toon (Heather), Jeffrey Clayben Daves, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
A celebration of Jamey’s life and memorial service will be held at SouthPointe Baptist Church (4820 S Division Street, Guthrie, OK 73044) on November 26, 2022, at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to an organization Jamey supported: New Horizons Sheltered Workshop (an Oklahoma Rehabilitation Service; a special-needs employer), Checks can be made payable to New Horizons and mailed to PO Box 1574, Guthrie, OK 73044. https://newhorizonsok.org/.
In Me
The spirit of life and love
Came to visible expression
In human form.
When I loved you,
When I called you my friends,
When I laughed, when I cried,
When I did everything you loved about me.
Where am I now?
I continue to ride,
With the spirit of life and love.
In ways beyond
Words and images.
But I am with you,
And always will be,
As my spirit
Continues to move in your lives.
I am with you,
And always will be,
In the spirit of life and love.

I remember Jamey most as feisty little brothers friend. I will always remember his laugh and he was always full of questions which is a good thing, but back then I would just tell him to shush! I seen him sporadically though adult life but he still had a zest for life and you can bet he was laughing along the way. It was a contagious way he presented himself. Rest Easy!
