Janet Leah Conn, 62, of Bethany, Oklahoma, died at home on June 2, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her sister Darla Conn of Oklahoma City; brother Roy Conn of Longtown, OK; niece Dakota Conn of Nashville; nephew Allen Conn of Rhode Island; Tammy Conn of Mustang; Richard, Desarae and Dylon Mello; and Jacob Clark, all of Mustang.
Janet was born in Enid, OK on April 21, 1956 to Lucy and Allen Conn. She graduated Mustang High School in 1974 and SW State University in 1979 with a B.S. in Physical Education. She worked at Hertz Call Center and then completed Barber College in 1985. She then began working at Donna’s Razor Cuts and except for a brief adventure she took in Florida and Arizona for seven years, she worked there until she became too ill to continue serving her clients. Janet was preceded in death by both of her parents.
Janet was a social person, loved her clients and considered many as her friends. She also loved all that life offered and made an adventure of her journey. She enjoyed taking pictures of sunsets, collecting rocks from everywhere she went, and listening to 70’s music. She loved fishing, bicycling, traveling and all her pets. Perhaps her most endearing trait was that she was able to find a heart in something every day. EVERY DAY! She would say, “It is from my Mom.” She found them in the steam that came from her coffee cup, in rocks, cereal bowl, and potato chip. Her smile was ever present and contagious, even during the times her illness was taking over. Janet was brave and a fighter and never quit. She went in peace, still strong and on her terms.

KELLY TRUESDALE says
Dearest Janet, my friend I will miss our conversations about solving the world’s problems. I met you about 6 years ago when you were bravely under treatment (and bald as a baby) just as I was once.
Sometimes it helps to talk with someone who has traveled that journey. I am proud of you, I consider you a hero and I will forever treasure our visits. Shine on sister, go fishing anytime and rest easy now.
William "Bill" Martin says
When Janet was in junior high school, I had the privilege of being her Sunday school teacher. She was a lovely and intelligent young lady. When I became superintendent of schools at Indianola, I was reunited with her father Al. He kept me up to date on the activities of Janet, Darla and Roy. He was very proud of his family. May God bring peace to this wonderful family.

I didn’t see Janet often, but when I did she always had a smile on her face. She fought her battle with Cancer courageously with her sister Darla by her side. She will be missed. Rest In Peace Janet. We love you.

Janet had that special quality of making you feel like you had known each other forever, every time you’d see her. We had a lot of good times and laughs at Deb’s pool every summer which is where I first met her with sister Darla. She will be missed. Prayers and love to all.

You will always be my Karen! I will miss finding hearts with you. Or surprise visits at the Hefner Golf Course breakfasts. Or hearing your bike roar up. Or having to go to the serious movies. Or listening about your hikes and adventures with the Tipton. I found a heart shaped rock this morning…thank you.

Darla, Roy and the many nieces & nephews: Janet was a bright light among us. Her smile was a welcoming sight for us all. She always had a big hugs and words of kindness for all. We had the best time fishing and camping together. She will always remain very special to me. I wish you peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
Sarah Evans says
Dear Janet, I never told you how much I appreciated you and Donna B. When we first met in 1988, you were both roaring and ripping on your Harley’s..I thank you for being there. You had a wonderful childlike wonder that I so admired. You were a shining star on this earth and your light was dimmed much too soon. I pray you are free from pain and that you are at peace. I hope St Peter met you at the gate with the keys to your new bike. Rip up those streets sister! God bless your family. May the memories of Janet bring you comfort.
