John George DeLaney, 85, passed away on February 12th, 2023, in Oklahoma City. John was born on December 24th, 1937, in Oklahoma City. His adopted parents were Pete DeLaney and Helen DeLaney (Kilan). He and brother, William Gene, were adopted by the DeLaneys at an early age. John lettered four years in football and track at Northeast High School, where he graduated in 1956. He was drafted into the U.S. Army after graduation. He was stationed in the Army Security Agency of the intelligence branch on Okinawa Island. He was recalled stateside after the death of his brother, also a serviceman, in 1960. John owned and operated a print shop for many years in OKC. He is preceded in death by his adopted parents and, of course, his brother. He is survived by two sons, Gene Brett DeLaney, of Tustin, Calif., and Greg Bryan DeLaney, of Wichita, Kan., and his wife Maria, and a daughter, Debra Diane (DeLaney) Kramer, of Yukon, and her husband Bill. He was married for 28 years to the former Donnetia Kay (Biggs) Smith, of Oklahoma City. John had nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling. For many years, he attended First Baptist Church, Bethany. Services are entrusted to Oklahoma City Cremation and will be at 1 p.m., March 3, 2023, at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Lawton.
