John Robert Stursa of Midwest City lost his battle with cancer on April 29, 2018. John was born on August 24, 1969, in Oxnard, California, to Robert Everett Stursa and Sally Ann Stursa.
In his life, John enjoyed fishing, spending time in the wilderness and camping. He enjoyed watching the sunrise, skateboarding and had a huge heart for animals. He had a wide range of pets in life, including snakes, an o’possum, African tree frogs and even a pet raccoon. He loved his dogs, especially his beloved Chalupa. He was an avid collector of dragons, Star Wars memorabilia and comics.
John was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Stursa. He is survived by the two loves of his life, his daughters, Casady Faith Stursa of Purcell, OK and Genevieve Hope Stursa of Midwest City, OK, his mother, Sally Stursa, three sisters, Cheryl Hughes, Lisa Stursa and Kristine Aman and her husband, Daniel Aman. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, Tierre Olson, Sage Olson, Amanda Hughes, Zachary Hughes, Ericka Patenaude, Kaycee Coffman, Marcus Keil, Sarah Barber and Preston Barber. John loved his family more than anything.
He was a very hard working man and could do most anything. He had many health issues in his life that he overcame in order to be the best father that he could be to his daughters. He fought hard and long until he just couldn’t do it anymore. There will be a small private gathering for family and friends in the near future where we will honor John’s life and his wishes.
