John Gaylor Sneden

John Gaylor Sneden, 79, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away March 24, 2025. He was born on February 9,1946 in Oklahoma City, OK to the late Gilbert E. Sneden, Sr., and Mariel Sneden.

John grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Southeast High School in 1964. He attended Central State College in Edmond, OK, excelling in track and field and nearly earning an undergraduate degree in Chemistry. He served his nation with distinction in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 with the 101st Airborne ‘Screaming Eagles’ Division, reaching the rank of Sergeant and earning the Bronze Star and Air Medals. John spent the majority of his career in the insurance field, retiring in 2001 as a Casualty Adjuster for USAA. His passions in life included spending time with family, friends, and loved ones; physical fitness; gardening; and giving his heart and soul to every facet of his life. He had an infectious sense of humor and a wonderful smile that could brighten the darkest of days. He will be eternally missed.

John was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Gilbert ‘Gibb’ Sneden, Jr. John is survived by his daughter Christine Sneden of Harrah, OK and her children, Richard and Sydney Seebeck, and his son, John R. Sneden of Oklahoma City OK, and his children Sabrina and John H. Sneden. John is also survived by his longtime sweetheart of over 40 years, Sherri Curtess, and her children Traci Sanchez, Tricia Prince, and Justin Taylor.
