Kaye Dene Nelson was a retired educator and administrator, caring wife, devoted mother and grandmother, sassy sister, and loyal friend. She passed away on December 21, 2020 at age 73.
She was born on October 12, 1947 to Rolland and Marjorie Brumm. In 1970, she received her Bachelor of Science in Education and in 1983 received a degree of Master in Education, both from Central State College. On May 2, 1987 she married the love of her life, Marvin Dean Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter Kylie Goering and husband Ryan, Moundridge, KS; son Matthew Irving and wife Sharee, Macomb, OK; son Doug Nelson and wife Kayce, Catoosa, OK; daughter Mary Beth Ziba and husband Rob, Oklahoma City, OK; sister Debbie Fleming and husband Richard, Boerne, TX; sister Susie Sanders and husband Jack, Eufaula, OK; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Nelson; daughter Mary Katherine Marsh; son-in-law Glenn Marsh; and parents Rolland & Marjorie Brumm.
Her Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, January 15, 2021 at Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have memorials made to Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church. This service is not available to the public due to seating restrictions; however, the service will be live streamed on Mayfair’s Facebook page.
