Laura “Alla” Christine Dewett of Crossroads, Texas, and Edmond, Oklahoma, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away November 2, 2017 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. When her daughter was very young, she couldn’t pronounce “Laura”, so it came out as “LaLa” – a nickname that stuck until her first granddaughter began to talk. Her granddaughter couldn’t say “LaLa”, so it came out as “Alla” – the nickname used by all of her grandchildren.
Laura had a successful career as a geophysicist and business owner. She was incredibly caring and loving, always putting others before herself. She loved travel, art, music, animals, and cooking. Laura especially loved travelling with family, always open to new experiences and adventures. On road trips, she would always look to travel on roads that she had never been on. She was an avid collector of art, especially Southwestern and Native American. She loved all genres of music and had an amazing memory for lyrics. As an animal lover, she never saw a stray that she wasn’t willing to take in, even if just to find it a home. As she learned more and more about problems with our food industry, she became determined to obtain clean ingredients and cook great recipes for her family.
She also took on causes that were important to her with tenacity and resolve. After her retirement, she spent countless hours researching health and nutrition; reading and analyzing medical studies; and fighting for informed consent over the dangers of vaccines .
She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Dewett; her children, Derek, his wife, Chrissy, and their two children, Bella and Savannah; Dustin, his wife, Liz and their four children, Glorianna, Leilani, Thomas and Katherine; Ariana Reno, her husband, Mike and their three children, Kayla, Jaxson and Emilee; and her brother, Greg Speak.
