Former Oklahoma resident Arthur (Art) Louis Gonzales Sr., 72, died April 10, 2018, at his home in Little Axe (Norman), Oklahoma. A small service will be held in his honor at The Norman Senior Center at 329 S Peters Avenue in Norman at 5:00 PM on Friday, April 13, 2018.Mr. Gonzales was born November 17, 1945, in San Saba, TX., to Cruz Gonzales and Cruz Cardenas.
It was in this same small Texas town where Art met his future wife, Margie. Their families were friends. She was but a small child in diapers and Art was maybe 3 years old. At age 15, a young Art took Margie on their first date. They were married less than 2 years later eventually welcoming 4 children, 9 Grandchildren and 21 Great-Grandchildren (with one on the way) into their lives.The young family moved to Iowa in the early 70s for work, living in Joyce, IA before setting down roots in Woden, IA where their children were raised and educated. After the children were grown, they moved to another small Iowa town, Gruver. Eventually moving on again, Art and Margie retired to Little Axe (Norman), OK.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margie, daughter, Grace Bryant and sons Art Jr and Jeff (Charlie). He is predeceased by his parents, siblings and daughter, Lina Jane Chavez.He was loved and will be greatly missed.Condolences may be sent to: 18024 Riggs Road, Norman , OK 73026.

So sorry for your loss. Parents can be such anchors in our lives and communities. We know they are important but at their passing we see how deep the roots went and how firmly they held.
