Mark Whitman Mattison, 68, passed away at home on July 11, 2021. Mark was born in Oklahoma City to Jo Morgan and Sam B. Mattison. He attended Amarillo High School where he excelled in sports including football, track and field, tennis, and golf. He went on to pursue higher education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, University of Northern Colorado, and University of Central Oklahoma with a focus on Psychology and Mental Health studies. Mark was an entrepreneur, who throughout his career started and led companies in the fields of publishing, marketing, and advertising before pursuing his passion for mental health and addiction counseling. Mark was known for his great sense of humor and wit, his generosity, creativity, and love of adventure. The world will not be the same without his kind heart and gentle soul. We rest easy knowing he made a positive difference in so many lives. Mark’s jovial spirit is survived by his children and grandchildren: Chase Mattison and wife Caitlin Knoepp, New Orleans, LA; Nathan Mattison and wife Erika (Noah, 3), Oklahoma City, OK; Ali Holloway and husband Andrew (Mattison, 3), Napa, CA; his American siblings: Ray Mattison and wife Colleen, San Luis Obispo, CA; Leslie Chihuly and husband Dale, Seattle, WA; Julie Sistrunk and husband Ben, Nashville, TN; and his French siblings: Barbara Kheloufi and husband Noureddine; Claire Perrier and husband Marc; Marie-Katherine Palmieri and husband Philippe; Martin Mattison; and Marie-Ange Martin and husband Emmanuel.
