Mary Jane, “Janie” Bauman, was born March 8, 1954, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Duane and Mary Guthery. She was freed from her earthly chains and died peacefully on December 24th, in Owasso, Oklahoma, surrounded by family. She graduated from John Marshall High School and earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from OSU.
Janie is survived by her children, Katie Jennings and husband, Kip, of Owasso, Oklahoma and their children, Kade, Kloee, Ziah & Mylee. Kyle Bauman and wife, Kaylah, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and their children, Kenly, Kylee, and Mitchell. Kelly Smith and husband, Zac, of El Paso, Texas, and their children, Ryann and Harper. She is also survived by her sister Suzanne Hukill and husband, Larry, of Edmond, Oklahoma and eight nieces and nephews, Ryan and Kendra Hukill, Trace and Seth Wadley, John, Daniel and Sara Noble, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant son Mitchell. Janie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a servant’s heart, anytime she had the opportunity to serve others and give was a huge blessing to her. As a nurse she gained tremendous joy in providing the best care for her patients. Her greatest accomplishment outside of her family was obtaining her RN degree, while working full-time as an LPN at Mercy Hospital and raising her children as a single parent. She was blessed throughout her life by special friends Donita Terry, Jerry Padberg, Kathy Spurlock and many others. Through all things her faith in God never wavered. Her strength surmounting the many challenges in her life was admirable.
The family would like to extend their thanks to special caregivers Aimee and Josie who treated her with loving kindness, and Tammy of Carter Healthcare.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 29th, 2017 at 10 AM, at Hope Church, 3100 N. Meridian, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.

Janie was a special kind of person. Though I had not seen her in years she was always in my heart. Katie I am so sorry but praise God for the peace she now has in the arms of Jesus. I remember when you and Bessy, your Mum and I, got you girls from school to deliver Meals on Wheels. God bless you Katie, Kyle and Kelly. Love to you all.
Margaret Connell says
Janie was the only caregiver I could ever feel 200% confident in leaving my mother, (Elizabeth Emerson) with. She sincerely loved her. During the difficult last years of my mother’s life, Janie became as family to us. She always brightened my day by coming in with a smile and I enjoyed our talks at the end of the day.
All she ever talked about centered around her faith in God or her children and grandchildren.
She loved each one of you so very much.
