Dr. Michael Jay Wiley, a compassionate and dedicated veterinarian, passed away on June 25 at the age of 69. Born and raised in the panhandle of Oklahoma, Dr. Wiley developed a deep love for animals early in life, a passion that would shape his future career and contributions to the community.
He pursued his passion by attending Oklahoma State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, where he received an excellent education, graduating in 1980. Following his education, he settled in Norman, Oklahoma, where he lived for the majority of his life, serving the community with unwavering dedication.
In May 1999, Dr. Wiley received a plaque from the Governor of Oklahoma in recognition of his tireless efforts in assisting animal victims following the devastating tornados. His dedication to helping animals in times of crisis was further highlighted in a recent documentary on the May 2013 tornado victims, showcasing his unwavering support and expertise.
Dr. Wiley's love for his work and the animals he cared for was apparent to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and excellence in veterinary care.
He is survived by his two children, Erin Wiley of Washington, DC, and Dr. Kevin Wiley (wife Alicia) of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; Thomas Keith and Sara Mills, (their grandchildren Kazden Michael Keith, and Ryan Mills), who he raised as his own.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless animals and owners whose lives he touched.
