Owen P. Marsh

Owen Patty Marsh was born July 4, 1936 in FT Worth, Texas to Venise and Robert Marsh. His favorite scripture was James 1:2 “count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials for you know that testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” At a young age, Owen witnessed the death of his father, and being an only child, was conditioned from that time to be self-reliant.

At 17 he joined the United States Marine Corp, which was one of the highest honors of his life and where he earned the national defense service medal.

In 1976 he married the love of his life, Rita Ramirez. Shortly after, he rededicated his life to Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. Owen and Rita made the woodlands, Texas their home where they owned and operated two businesses. In 1999 they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to be near aging parents and family.

Owen enjoyed motorhome traveling and seeing the country from sea to shining sea while making friends along the way. Each destination was a home away from home.

In 2006 Owen and Rita joined Henderson Hills Baptist church. A lasting bond quickly developed with their church community group who became a family of brothers and sisters who walked alongside them through the trials of cancer with love and amazing support.

Owen was so thankful for his family and in the ways which they served their country, shared their love and shared their strengths with him and others.

Owen was a man of many talents – some of which may surprise even his closest friends. He was certified diver, a licensed pilot, an Arthur Murray dance instructor, avid skier, and did so from Utah to Switzerland! He was rarely seen without sporting his thunder ball cap, attire and spirited dedication to his team!

Owen never really retired until he sat in the motorhome’s passenger seat with Jesus at the wheel, and headed home. “To God Be The Glory”.

Owen is survived by his wife Rita, son, Bryan and wife Laura, daughter, Sherry, brother-in-laws, Roy and Albert Ramirez, sister-in-law, Rhonda Borne, nieces and nephews Julia and Damon Effingwolf, Sydney, Erik and Saylor Masuda, USMC SGT Henry Jacob Dempewolf, Teresa and Richard Vaughn, Diana and Devon pierce, Taylor and Zayne Ramirez, Christa, Rich, Grayson and Gabriella McElreath.

Services will be at 10am Friday April 5, 2019 at Henderson Hills Baptist Church,  1200 E I-35 Frontage Rd, Edmond, Ok.
