Pauline Marie Easter of Edmond, OK, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 22, 2022 at the age of 87. Polly was born July 21,1935 in Rockford, Illinois to Folke and Christina Johnson. She graduated from East High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College. She then went on to earn a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University. She met Dale Easter, her loving husband of nearly 60 years, while doing graduate work at Denver University. Polly and Dale were wed June 3,1961 in Rockford. They lived in numerous cities across the country before settling into their longtime home in Berthoud, Colorado.
Polly worked for over 40 years as a child and family therapist, enhancing countless lives. She was fond of traveling, especially to her father’s homeland of Sweden, she loved to swim and was an avid reader. She took great pleasure in making friends and entertaining, including hosting an annual Christmas breakfast for all her friends and beloved siblings. She was a member of a book club, a games group and a theater group.
Polly was grateful for the love and care she received from her parents and “felt lucky to be born in the USA at a period in history when there were choices and opportunities for women”. Polly loved her life. She had an infectious laugh, wonderful sense of humor, a kind heart and strength of character. She was cherished by many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include sister Joy (Dom) Vitale of Edmond, Okla.; brother Barney (Diane) Johnson of Two Rivers, Wis.; close cousin Grace Swenson of Rockford; sister-in-law Donna Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; nieces and nephews, Vicki (Doug) Olson of Rockford, Cristy Vitale of Harrogate, Tenn., Brenda (Bret) Myers of Oklahoma City, Alonna (Darryl) Roland of Port Edwards, Wis., Robb (Sandy) Johnson of Reedsburg, Wis., Mike Johnson of Reedsburg, Wis., Jenny (Jeremy) Christiansen of Newport, Minn., Allison (Mitch) Mathison of Mishicot, Wis., and Sheila Davenport of Crossville, Ga.; and numerous cousins, great-nieces and -nephews, and friends everywhere. She was predeceased by husband Dale, brother Allan Johnson and parents.
Polly requested no services. Memorials may be made to Longmont Colorado Humane Society.
