On Wednesday June 21, 2017, after sixty-eight years of loving, helping, determination, courage, and grace, Phyllis Jean Golden, died peacefully in her sleep. She is now in her eternal home being cradled in both the laughter and tears of her Lord, as well as her beloved mother and aunts.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of thirty-six years, ReDon and devoted poodle, Lucky; son, Travis Halley and his wife, Amber; daughter, Melissa Rice and her husband, Chad; grandchildren, Jake, Zach and Halley Rice; brother Rick Ashford and his wife Sarah; and niece and nephew, Eric and Erin Ashford. Phyllis also leaves behind numerous extended family and friends who made her life rich and full of joy.
Phyllis had the most kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a master decorator and loved to shop and do crafts. She enjoyed traveling with ReDon and Lucky, going to Zumba, listening to music, playing cards and going to bunco with her Lakeaire neighborhood friends and lunching with her “Lunch Bunch” friends. Phyllis was a faithful member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
While we are terribly saddened for Phyllis to leave her Earthly life so prematurely, all those who she left behind are grateful to know that we will one day see her again.
A funeral service will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, July 8th at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There will be a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bella Foundation would be kindly appreciated.

What a surprise when Phyllis came up to me in Zumba class and said “Are you Julie Milburn’s sister?” They had worked together at the County and Sprint. While I was talking with her another person came over and discovered they were neighbors (Jane Hightower) So, for two years I had the joy of calling Phyllis my friend also. She was a wonderful dancer..the best in class. She will surely be missed in the Zumba class at Rockwell Y. Sending our love to ReDon and family. Ava and Joe Yoing

I was shocked and saddened to hear about my good friend, Phyllis’s, passing. We have been friends since we were 10 years old and lived a few doors down from each other. I was greatly saddened that I won’t be able to see her when I visit Oklahoma City in the Fall. We were BFF.

ReDon – Although we’ve only been fiends a short time, it was apparent from the first time we met, that you two were soulmates. I feel blessed to have known Phyllis and will miss her terribly at Bunco. May God bless you and your family in the challenging days ahead.
