Ronald “Ron” Jack Coppock passed away the morning of June 23rd, 2024 from myelodysplastic syndrome. Ron was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 21st, 1949 and lived in Oklahoma City at the time of his death.

Ron served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Guam. Initially, he performed maintenance on specialized systems in various aircraft carriers Intrepid and Kittyhawk, but was later trained to work on an innovative communications system. That would later be revealed as TACAMO.

When he returned home, he earned a degree in environmental science and worked briefly for OG&E. He found his calling in medicine. First in the emergency services as a fire-fighter and EMT. Then as a ER and ICU/critical care RN. He worked closely with Dr. Warren Jackman who pioneered the development of catheter ablation techniques. It was delicate and precise work in which Ron excelled. Dr. Jackman trusted Ron to train other surgery technicians to aid in the new procedure.

Ron was proud of his three children, his first child Lea with Lynn Saint James and his second and third children John and April with Karen Hollingsworth. He adored his granddaughter Evelyn, who affectionally named him Grandpa Smoothie.

Ron was fascinated by all things scientific and mechanical. He had a real do-it-yourself philosophy. If something broke, it was likely he would fix it himself. He was an avid amateur astronomer. His favorite place to be was his simple home on lake Eufaula, sitting by a campfire while the sun set. He found comfort being in nature.

He was preceded in death by Patricia Jones (mother), Jack Coppock (father), Trina Coppock (sister), April Coppock (daughter), and Jim Palovik (uncle). Ron is survived by Lea (daughter), her husband Christopher Ingold and their daughter Evelyn; John (son) and Hillary Coppock; Daughter Kaitlyn; Larry (brother) his wife Falonda Coppock and nephews Chase Richardson, daughters Ava and Lily, Koran Sharp, Shawn Coppock his daughters Amber and Samantha, Michael, his wife Caitlin Coppock and their son Camden; Scott Jones (brother); and Jeff Palovik (cousin).

Ron was compassionate, idiosyncratic person with a strong moral compass. He was a deep thinker with insatiable curiosity. He was also a wealth of knowledge. He will be missed by the many people who loved him.
