Sherry Jean Hensley was born on Aug 19, 1951 in Oklahoma City to Eugene and Betty Jo (Dunlap) Hensley. She was called home after a courageous year battle with cancer on Sept 17, 2019. She is survived by her only daughter Sherena Hensley Kish, 3 grandchildren Stephen Kish, Bryce Kish and Mallory Kish. Sister Denise Smith and Husband Danny and mother Betty Jo Hensley. She was preceded in death by her father EuGene Hensley, Brothers Chris Hensley and Keith Hensley. She also leaves behind numerous other family members, nieces, nephews and lots of friends. Sherry, although born in Oklahoma moved to Texas in 1960 and remained there until she returned to Oklahoma in 2017. She loved Texas and considered herself a Texan even though the whole family were Okies. (Well except Sherena) She graduated in 1969 from Burgess High School in El Paso where she lived until the early 90’s when she moved to N Richland Hills, Texas. She worked in Transportation all of her life starting at El Paso Pipe and Supply and ended her career in Ft Worth with DHL where she retired on her exact 65th birthday! She loved to travel and she loved to go to the Casinos. We will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.

We were childhood playmates, living directly across the street from one another in El Paso Texas. I was remembering, I always seemed to be at the Hensley house, rather than the Hensley’s at mine. Must be a reason. It was always a lot of fun there.
Sherry found me again only 7 months ago after decades for time in which we had no awareness of one another. I believe that was for a reason as well.
This morning, the thought went through my mind – “life goes on.” I realized “how true”. Sherry passed her genes and self down through her daughter, who has now passed those down into her 3 children. Sorrow is the way of life and death the inevitable outcome from the moment of birth.
My sincere condolences. I lost my own mother 4 years ago on Sept 20th, the day I am writing this message. I remember how devastating that felt. HUGS.
