Sherry Kay (Wright) Stuever passed away on March 23, 2016. Sherry was born on July 30, 1946 in Frederick, Oklahoma to J.T. and Opal (Muse) Wright. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1964 and married Richard V. Stuever in 1965 with whom she had two children; daughter Keely Stuever-Northup and son Russell Stuever. Sherry dedicated her life to her family, and was an incredible wife and mother. She loved her grandson Mason more than words can express.
She was highly accomplished in all forms of needlework, and once co-owned the former “In Stitches” needlework shop in Lawton. After moving to Edmond, she continued teaching quilting and knitting, later co-founding Sealed with a Kiss, a yarn shop and knitwear design company in Guthrie with her daughter. Her expansive knowledge of knitting was unmatched, co-authoring the book Intarsia: A Workshop for Hand & Machine Knitting which shared the techniques she personally developed for this advanced form of color work. She was adored by the many students with whom she shared her knowledge and love of knitting, along with other needle arts.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard Stuever of Edmond; daughter Keely Northup, son-in-law Keith, and grandson Mason of Guthrie; son Russell Stuever of Guthrie; sister Sandra Allen Joyner of Lawton; brother Royce Kent Wright and wife Tammy of Smithfield, Virginia; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A reception celebrating her life will be held on Friday, April 1st from 1-3pm at The Hamilton Event Center, 41 NW 144th Circle in Edmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Infant Crisis Services.
