Warren Eugene Mullins (Gene) was a beloved sibling, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather during his 83 years of life. He was born on January 10th, 1941 in Oklahoma City to the late Woodrow Mullins and Ora Lee Chandler. He passed away surrounded by love on September 25th, 2024.
Gene was proceeded in death by his stepmother Jewel Mullins and stepfather Roy Chandler, and his siblings Robert Ditmore, Louise Holliday, Zona Lily, Lavona Stuvetraa, and Don Mullins. As well as his beloved wife, Dorothy Mullins.
Gene is survived by a large and beautiful family. His sister, Jan Davis. His children; Twyla and Michael Salazar, Donald Mullins, and T ammy and Donny T odd. His grandchildren; Brian and Laura Calhoun, Brandon and Sarah Calhoun, Heather and Nathaniel Laguerre, Amanda and Harvey Parker, Christopher and Kelli Mullins, Ashley and Tyler Gillespie, Cooper T odd, and Makinzy T odd. His great-grandchildren; Alia and Chase Hawes, Halie Calhoun, Dylan Calhoun, and Katelyn Calhoun, Nathaniel Jr, Lyn and Lorelai Mullins, and Henry and Jack Gillespie. His great-great-grandchild; Obi Hawes. Lastly, his kitty Miko.
Gene worked in the tool room at Gulfstream Aeronautics. He was also a great house painter and baker and owned an antique shop. He loved fishing, gambling at the casino, dancing, playing softball, and watching football, particularly the Sooners and the Cowboys. He could typically be found surrounded by pewter and knickknacks from one of his favorite hobbies, antiquing. He was most at peace when he was next to a lake, casting a reel with those he loved.
Most of all, he loved his family and the time that he got to spend with them. At most family gatherings one could hear him from across the room talking about how proud he was that he was responsible for bringing this family into the world. He was a cantankerous man, full of jokes and laughter. Those who knew him know that Gene could also be stubborn (one of the many traits he passed down to his family). However, he wouldn’t hesitate to help those around him. One of the most prominent examples of this is the time that he pulled over to help someone on the side of the road. In the process, another car crashed into them, and he lost his leg. His big heart towards people; whether it was those he loved or random strangers, knew no bounds.
Gene is flying high with his Lord and Savior in Heaven. He was excited to see his loved ones and go fishing into eternity. He is deeply loved and will be missed by those who were lucky enough to know him.
We will be having a Celebration of Life for Gene on October 5th at 3 pm at Winners Church in Oklahoma City. Please wear anything but black, we are celebrating the amazing and full life that he lived, and the beautiful eternity he has with the Lord!
