Whitney D’Chelle Popchoke passed away on November 5, 2024, at 12:39 pm at OU Medical Center with family and friends by her side. Whitney was born September 18, 1985, to Tommy J Popchoke and Lisa R Coppock Popchoke Farrell at Loring AFB, ME.
Whitney graduated from Putnam City High School in 2004. She received her BBA in human Resources Management from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2008. She continued her education and received her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2011. Whitney had 2 Human Resource Certifications- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Society of Human Resources Management-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). She had over 17 years of experience in progressive Human Resources including benefits, compensation, employee relations, performance appraisals, training and development, recruiting, and compliance. 13+ years’ experience working in multiple-site matrix-style organizations. 11+ years’ experience focusing on benefits analytics, requests for proposals, and vendor negotiations. 3+ years as a Team Lead in Human Resources Benefits Function.
Whitney married David Kapple, on October 22, 2022. Their greatest achievement is their precious daughter Delaney Kapple, born September 13, 2021. Delaney is a “mini-me” of her Mom. They share a bond that even death cannot take away as long as there is a moon in the sky-Delaney can rest assured that her Mom is looking down from somewhere out there. Aaliyah Johnson is the first to call Whitney Mom-even though she was a part of the family for a very short time, her impact on the lives of the family will remain forever-especially with her Mom. The girls will now and forever have an angel on their side making sure that life is good to them.
Whitney enjoyed so many things in life, most importantly laughter. Her motto “Laughter trumps everything else”. Her beautiful smile was contagious. Her red lipstick was a trademark. She loved music of all genres, her favorite depended on the day. Christmas is a daily celebration, no matter what time of year. Her hobbies included reading, taking baths, quilting, word puzzles, mini-block projects, puzzles, junking with her Mom, decorating, and spending time with family and friends. Whitney loved hard and if she loved you, she did it with all her heart. Whitney was compassionate with a little bit of a smart-ass (just a little). She was properly named Whitney with a nickname of Whit-for obvious reasons.
Whitney is survived by her daughter-Delaney Kapple; her 3 cats-Gus Gus, Birdie and Remi; her parents-Tommy Popchoke and Lisa Farrell; Her Brother and his wife-Bradley and Suzanne Popchoke; Her Niece-Rebecca (Becs)Youngblood and husband, Brayden Youngblood, and Great Niece, Adalynn Youngblood; Her Nieces- Mia (Mims) Popchoke, Gracie (Bug) Popchoke, Connor (Conman) Popchoke, Olivia (Oli) Popchoke and Noelle (Baby Christmas) Popchoke. Grandparent-Daina Coppock. Uncles and Aunts-David and Deby Green; Matt and Lisa Coppock. Cousins-Dustin and Jen Green; Austin Green and son; Evan and Jordan Coppock and children. Preceded in death by Aunt-Michelle Coppock Hammons; Grandparents-Don and Morene Popchoke; Gayland and Peggy Kellison; Herman Coppock.
Whitney never understood the impact that she had on so many lives. She will be forever missed and our world will never be the same. We know that we will all be together celebrating some day and what a glorious day that will be. Our hearts are broken but she is no longer in pain, for that, we can be grateful.
