William Dwane “Duane” McClendon, born May 31, 1933 in Hewitt, Oklahoma. Went to his Heavenly Father October 8, 2020 at home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Son of William Homer and Sibyl Eakin McClendon both deceased and one sister Janice Epperson also deceased.  Father-in-Law Richard Zinnecker, deceased.

Survived by his wife Jean and their son Will and his wife Melody of Oklahoma City. Brother-in-Law Dennis Epperson of Fullerton, California. Two sisters-in-law Cathy Eddy and her husband Bob of Murfreesboro, TN and Anita McAlister and her husband John of Saugus, CA.  Mother-in-Law Elsie Zinnecker of Hemet, CA.  Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

His family moved around a lot because of the depression so he was always the “new” kid at school.  Despite having been to so many schools he had an AA in Mechanical Engineering and a BS in Biology.  He worked in both medical and metal plating labs during his working years.

He was a Veteran of the Korean War and served in the Air Force in Special Weapons.

He developed a love for airplanes and flying at an early age and was a private pilot, although he was never able to fly as much as he would have liked.  He enjoyed going to air shows with his family as often as there was one within easy driving distance.

He was very proud of his Cherokee Heritage even though according to DNA it was only 12.3%.

He met and married his wife of almost 50 years at church in Los Angeles, California.  They moved to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma in 1989 and to Oklahoma City, in 2017.

He was much loved and will missed greatly.
