William “Bill” Marion McGillivray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on March 2, 2016 due to natural causes. He was 56 years old.
Bill was born on August 13, 1959 in Birmingham, Alabama to his parents, Lawrence McGillivray Jr. and Bennie Mae Hayes. He attended and graduated in 1978 from Ramsay High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He was currently studying business administration at Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City.
Bill was an automotive mechanic for over 35 years. He held several credentials and certifications through ASE in the State of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Alabama. He ran a private auto repair business entitled, “Arklahoma Transmission” in Pocola, Oklahoma for 10 years.
Bill was an active member of NA and AA for 12 years. He enjoyed watching nascar on Sunday afternoons, playing with his granddaughter, Briar and exercising. Bill loved to laugh and had a very optimistic view of life.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Mariah McGillivray Fleetwood; son in law, Jared Fleetwood; and granddaughter, Briar Fleetwood all of Stillwater, Oklahoma. His stepdaughters, Leslie Gass Vest of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Bethaney Gass Kleinheksel of McKinney, Texas. His sisters, Sharon Sparks of Springville, Alabama and Mable Hyatt of Vinemont, Alabama; His brother, Lawrence Michael McGillivray of Arab, Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence McGillivray Jr.; his mother, Bennie Mae Hayes McGillivray; his sister, Pamela Mae McGillivray; his grandfather Lawrence McGillivray Sr. and grandmother Leita Wiggins McGillivray.
Services will be held privately by the family.

Condolence to Mariah and all those who knew and loved Bill. He was always very kind to me. My very first job was at his transmission shop for almost three years and babysitting the girls. I’m very sadden to hear of his passing. God bless.

I was so sorry to hear of Billy’s passing. He was a handsome young man and I have many memories as a child playing with my cousins at Grandma Hayes’s house. He was the age of my youngest brother and his sisters were close to my age. I loved his family. I am a cousin also.

So sorry to hear this we were good friends in high school and rode motorcycles together a lot I talked to him about 3months ago for the first time in over 35 years and we went right back like it was yesterday he was a great person and I will miss him he was incredible on two wheels when we were teenagers his brother mike should remember me I am praying for the family
